Steps away from the condo is Puerto Vallarta's largest and oldest public beach, Playa Los Muertos (the Beach of the Dead). Here you can bask in beach chairs in the sun or shelter under grass palapas while enjoying great Mexican food and cocktails served right on the beach. Fishing from the rocks and pier are also possible and many enjoy this as a great swimming beach. Los Muertos is also a popular gathering spot for gay and lesbian tourists on the south side, while locals and national tourists frequent the north end. The city has been trying to change the name to Playa del Sol but the more colorful historical name still sticks and Los Muertos Beach remains.
